Oxford Performing Arts Center Welcomes Christy Hardin to Advisory Board of Directors

Oxford, AL — The Oxford Performing Arts Center (OPAC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Christy Hardin to its Advisory Board of Directors. A dedicated public servant, accomplished business leader, and longtime supporter of the arts, Mrs. Hardin brings a wealth of experience and insight to her new role.

Christy and her husband, Mr. Rick Hardin, have been steadfast champions of OPAC for several years, consistently supporting the Center’s mission to enrich the cultural life of the community. Together, they built and operated Communication Associates, Inc., a successful technology business they founded in 1975 and sold in 2022. Over the course of her career, Christy has held various leadership roles, including Deputy Director of the DeKalb County Emergency Management Agency, operations manager for their business, and adjunct instructor in emergency management and public safety.

She holds advanced degrees in business administrationeducation, and emergency management, complementing her extensive practical experience with a strong academic foundation. In addition, Christy was a Certified Emergency Manager (CEM®), having completed over 1,200 hours of continuing education in emergency preparedness, logistics, and public safety. She has also served as a disaster relief volunteer with Southern Baptist Disaster Relief, with deployments across the southeastern United States and the US Virgin Islands.

“Christy brings a rare combination of strategic thinking, community dedication, and real-world expertise to the OPAC board,” said John Longshore, Executive Director of the Oxford Performing Arts Center. “Her ability to plan, lead, and inspire others is an incredible asset, and we are thrilled to welcome her into this leadership role.”

Beyond her professional work, Christy remains active in the community through service with organizations such as Crosspoint International Ministries, Golden Springs Baptist Church, and numerous past board appointments including the Boy Scouts of America and the DeKalb Hospital Association.

As a new member of the OPAC Advisory Board, Christy will play a key role in shaping the vision and future direction of the Center, helping to ensure it remains a vibrant and welcoming place for the arts in Oxford and beyond.
