Performance Schedule

Lightwire Theater's The Adventures of Tortoise and Hare: The Next Gen - October 7, 2022 - 11:00a

Recommended for: Grades 2-8

Approximate Length: 1 hour

Presented by Lightwire Theatre, the story begins with Aesop’s classic fable of The Tortoise and The Hare where the “slow and steady” Tortoise defeats the nimble but overconfident Hare. Lightwire Theater continues the story which finds the two opponents 10 years down the road, now with children of their own, exploring modern-day distractions. Smartphones and video games create a new landscape of lost connections to life experiences. The Next-Gen features Tortoise Junior and Lil’ Hare in a whole new kind of race, where their adventures lead them into unexpected territory. Old man Tortoise and Big Daddy Hare must come together despite their differences to find and save their children. With dazzling visuals, poignant storytelling, and creative use of music from classical to pop, this production brings this classic tale into a brilliant new light.

Peter Rabbit Tales - November 14, 2022 - 11:00a

Recommended for: Pre-K through grade 4, ages 3-9

Approximate Length: 1 hour

Meet Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny, Beatrix Potter’s beloved characters, as they escape from Mr. McGregor, outfox Mr. Tod and rescue the Flopsy Bunnies from the disagreeable badger, Tommy Brock. When Benjamin’s children disappear, he goes to his cousin, Peter Rabbit, to help him find the bunnies. But Peter thinks he’s had quite enough of adventure, remembering his youthful escapades in Mr. McGregor’s garden. As the cousins reminisce about their past adventures, their friends – Squirrel Nutkin, Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle, Jemima Puddle-duck and Mrs. Tittlemouse – gather to encourage Peter on this one last quest. Using fantastic masks, whimsical puppets, gorgeous scenery and original music, the magical, marvelous World of Beatrix Potter™ comes alive on stage. By arrangement with Frederick Warne & Co.
