POTTS School Day Away Series

Free Professional Performing Arts Experience for Students

 

Give your students a school day they will never forget! The Potts School Day Away series brings four exciting professional performances to the Oxford Performing Arts Center during the 2026–2027 school year. From glowing puppetry and talented dogs to science, magic, and circus thrills, each production is designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and wonder.

Admission is completely free through the generous support of Greg and Cheryl Potts. All performances begin at 11:00 a.m. Advance registration is required, and seating is limited.


Lightwire’s “The Tortoise & The Hare”

Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at 11:00 a.m.
Recommended for Grades K–5

Turn off the lights and prepare to be amazed! Lightwire Theater brings Aesop’s beloved fable to life through the magic of electroluminescent puppetry. Glowing creatures dance through complete darkness as a familiar story about patience, persistence, and pride becomes something genuinely breathtaking. This is imagination made visible and a theatrical experience your students will not soon forget.

Puppy Pals Live

Tuesday, November 3, 2026 at 11:00 a.m.
Recommended for Grades K–6

Get ready for some tail-wagging fun! “Puppy Pals Live” features incredibly talented rescue dogs performing jumps, spins, tricks, and other amazing feats. Packed with comedy, audience participation, and plenty of furry surprises, this high-energy production will have students laughing, cheering, and smiling from beginning to end.

Bill Blagg: The Science of Magic

Recommended for Grades 1–5

How do magicians make objects disappear, create incredible illusions, and seemingly defy gravity? Illusionist Bill Blagg takes students behind the scenes of the magical world to explore the scientific principles that make the impossible possible. This one-of-a-kind educational experience combines spectacular illusions with an engaging lesson in science, technology, engineering, and math.

The Colorful Hat Circus

Recommended for Grades K–6

Step right up! “The Colorful Hat Circus” brings acrobats, jugglers, aerialists, and clowns together for a colorful celebration of skill, imagination, and laughter. From jaw-dropping feats of balance to laugh-out-loud comedy, this exciting production introduces students to the timeless wonder of the circus and creates the kind of experience they will remember for years to come.
